History
A 40-year passion for roses
Forty years ago, Roseraie Barth was founded. It was an adventure born out of one man's passion for nature, flowers, and especially the queen of gardens: the rose.
From the outset, the ambition was clear: to produce robust, healthy, floriferous roses that were accessible to everyone, from amateur gardeners to landscaping professionals.
Our evolution over the decades
The beginnings: a passion for craftsmanship (1980s)
In the late 1980s, Mr. Barth, founder of the rose garden, decided to embark on an ambitious adventure: to create his own farm specializing in roses. At the time, resources were modest. A few hectares of land, simple tools, and a fierce determination to produce roses that stood out for their quality.
The reputation of Barth roses for their robustness and floribundity quickly spread. The first customers, mainly local individuals, became the natural ambassadors of the rose garden.
The 1990s: controlled growth
In response to this success, production areas were expanded. The range was diversified to meet growing customer expectations. The first partnerships with landscapers and local authorities were formed, attracted by the reliability and performance of the plants.
The 2000s: opening up to Europe
The advent of the Internet marked a turning point. Roseraie Barth created its online store and was thus able to offer its roses throughout France, as well as in other European countries: Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium, Holland, Spain, Italy, England, and Portugal.
This expansion allowed the nursery's expertise to reach a much wider customer base. Barth roses began to bloom in private gardens, as well as in parks and public spaces across Europe.
The 2010s: modernization and innovation
With the new generation came modernization: optimized irrigation, redesigned production facilities, and the introduction of new varieties that are more resistant and more floriferous.
Every year, new roses are added to the catalog, selected for their fragrance, color, natural disease resistance, and exceptional floriferousness.
Today: passing on the torch and looking to the future
After 40 years of passion and dedication, Mr. Barth is now passing on the torch. The rose garden continues to operate under the leadership of a new team of nursery growers who share the same values. A new chapter is beginning, continuing a precious legacy, but with the energy and ambitions of a new generation.
The different types of roses we produce
La Roseraie Barth offers a wide range of roses to suit all needs, whether you want to decorate a small garden, balcony, or terrace, or landscape a large park.
Large-flowered roses
Also known as tea hybrids, these roses produce majestic, often fragrant flowers that are ideal for cutting. Their timeless elegance makes them a must-have for classic gardens.
Cluster-flowering roses / mass roses
Producing a multitude of flowers gathered in bouquets, they ensure abundant and spectacular flowering, ideal for lining paths or creating colorful flower beds.
Standard and semi-standard roses
Growing on a trunk, these roses are distinguished by their elegant shape and decorative effect. They add verticality and fit perfectly into structured gardens.
Climbing roses
Perfect for decorating a facade, pergola, or arbor, climbing roses add charm and romance with their generous blooms and supple growth habit.
Ground cover roses
Hardy and easy to maintain, they form a colorful carpet of vegetation. They are suitable for both private individuals and communities, who appreciate them for their low maintenance requirements.
Landscape and shrub roses
Modern and robust, they are specially selected for their resistance, long flowering period, and low maintenance. They are ideal for large green spaces as well as private gardens.
Miniature roses and patio roses
Compact but just as generous in flowers, these roses are perfect for balconies, terraces, and small gardens.
Old roses
Old roses captivate with their timeless charm. Their generously shaped, often highly fragrant flowers are reminiscent of gardens of yesteryear. They evoke the elegance and authenticity of traditional rose gardens.
English roses
Created by renowned breeder David Austin, English roses combine the best of both worlds: the romantic beauty of old roses and the floribundity of modern varieties. Their flowers, which are either cupped or quartered, are often intensely fragrant, and their colors are rich, subtle, and refined.
